Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarships for his parents and a commitment to the community. The first family is his youngest of the nine children born to Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They grew up on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. The Selmons were also among the three siblings that represented Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi award as the top lineman in America. In his time as Oklahoma's starting quarterback The Sooners recorded a 32-1-1 record and won two national championships. The National Football Foundation named him an Scholar-Athlete for the 3rd time in 1975. Selmon was awarded a degree from education. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service included ten hours per week in volunteer work during college. After graduation, he moved in Tampa and played nine years with Tampa's Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro 3 times. After that, he began his career. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Relations officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored his name in 1982, as one of the top 10 young men in the US. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He captained his college team in the year 1975. In 1993, he was a part of at the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. In 1988, he was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation.
