Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends the virtues of family football scholarship and volunteerism in the community. His family's first name is his father was the youngest of nine kids who were raised within Eufala by Lucious Selmon. In second football, he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. All three became All-America. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the top lineman from the USA. In the three years that Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. The third scholarship was awarded to him. He was as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned his diploma in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout the college. Then he settled in Tampa after graduation, and was a member of the Buccaneers for nine seasons and was three-times all-pro. His career in business began. By 1988, he became an Account Relations officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's 10 outstanding young males. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 6-2. In his time at college, he was the captain of the 1975 team. In 1993, he was appointed the assistant director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame was named for his in 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
