Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football with volunteer work in the community. First family he is the youngest of nine children of Lucious and Jessie Semon who grew up on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. It was also the only one of three siblings that represented Oklahoma in football. All three brothers were All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the country by Outland Lombardi, Outland and the Outland Awards. During his three seasons as Oklahoma's main linebacker The Sooners finished 31-1-1 and claimed two championships. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975. He was also named as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon graduated with a degree of Education. Fourth-year service in the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. After graduating, he settled in Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers was all-pro three times, before beginning a new business career. In 1988, he was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute in the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 among America's best young men. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighted 256 lbs. He was captain of his university team in the year 1975. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993 as an director of athletics as an associate. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame named him in 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame was in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 handed out their Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
