Lee Roy Selmon's history combines the virtues of family football scholarships and social service. First family: he's the youngest of nine children born to Lucious and Jessie Semon who grew up on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. It was also the only one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma on the field of football. All three made All-America. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's finest lineman. The three seasons he was the starting line-up Oklahoma finished 32-1-0 and also won two championships at the national level. The third scholarship was awarded to him. He was the National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon received a degree in Education. Fourth Service in the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. After graduation, he relocated to Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers and was an all-pro 3 times and started a business career. In 1988, he joined the ranks of an account liaison officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's 10 outstanding young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs when playing in the college football league. He was a captain in 1975. was a leader of the team. Lee Roy was appointed associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
