Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football and volunteer work in the community. Selmon is the youngest of children from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon, who took care of him at the family farm near Eufala. Also, he was one of three siblings that represented Oklahoma on the field of football. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's top lineman. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. They also won 2 national titles. In 1975, he was awarded the third scholarship of his career and was recognized as a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon obtained his diploma in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work throughout his time at college. After college he settled in Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers was all-pro three times and started his business career. In 1988, he was an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of 10 young stars across the nation. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds as a college player he captained the 1975 team. In 1993 he was appointed as associate director at the University of South Florida. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
