Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarship for his family and service to the community. One of the first things he did is to help his familial. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. The family raised nine kids in a Eufala farm. In second football, he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the USA. During his three years as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. As an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received an award for his third season in 1975. Selmon earned a degree as a teacher. Fourth-year service in the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. After graduation Lee Roy moved to Tampa where he spent nine years playing with the Buccaneers. There were three times he was named an All-Pro. Lee Roy began his professional career. In 1988, as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa He was a member of the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated him as one of the top 10 young men across the nation. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds in his college days. He captained the 1975 team. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as the Associate Director of Sports. In 1988, he was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded the Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
