Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his family with volunteering in the community. First, the Selmon familial. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. The family raised nine kids on an Eufala farm. In football, he was with his three brothers from Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was one of the starters for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's top lineman. For three seasons as a starter Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship and was named the National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon received a diploma in education. Fourth service In the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. He coached his university team in 1975. In 1993, Roy was a part of the university of south Florida's athletic department as Director of Athletics as an associate. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as The Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 gave the Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor, who presented this award.
