Her new-found fame was translated into roles for the big screen in Shanghai Noon, Charlie's Angels and several other films. After that, she delivered a stunning performance in Quentin Tarantino Kill Bill Volume 1 as Japanese criminal O Ren Ishii. In the meanwhile, she was also in leading roles in several film that did not make the top of the charts, like Rise: Blood Hunter. She then started voicing prominent characters in animated films such as Kung Fu Panda and Tinker Bell. The small screen role of Mia Mason in Cashmere Mafia failed to produce positive results. Southland was a critically acclaimed series of police dramas that featured Liu in recurring roles, helped her reestablish her as an actress.
