Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946, at Locust Ridge Tenn. She grew up with 12 other kids. Her imaginative mind helped her escape from life's harsh reality. life. Before she could read and write she was singing her own tunes. At the age of 8, she was playing her first guitar. As a teenager She began singing at the Knoxville Tennessee radio station. In the same year, she recorded her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. Although she was studying, she had already made a name of herself in the local music scene. But her dream was to be more widely well-known. After graduating from high school in 1964 she relocated to Nashville. Her first charting records with Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. At about this time Porter Wagoner was looking for an actress to sing for the show he had syndicated to television. Parton took the job in 1966. She was then signed to RCA Records in 1968, and then the Grand Ole Opry was founded in the year 1969. In 1974, she quit the show because of the success of her solo songs like Joshua Coats from Many Colors or Jolene was surpassing their joint albums. The two split in 1974, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it went to Number. Its first appearance at number 1 was in 1974.
