Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 children from a poor family children that would be raised with them eventually. She learned early how to get out of her difficulties by using her rich and vibrant imagination. Before she learned to read and write, Dolly Parton was creating her own music. In the year she turned 8years old, she purchased the first electric guitar she owned and started singing at an Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. Gold Band Records is a tiny, independent label. In high school she made herself known to the community, but her ambition was bigger. In the exact day that she graduated from the high school in 1964. Her first charting records for Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. The syndicated television show of Porter Wagoner needed an additional singer around this point. Parton signed with RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She was hired in the year 1967. It was not until 1974 when she made the decision to quit Wagoner's show because the success of her own solo records like Joshua Coat, Many Colors, and Jolene exceeded their collective efforts. Parton composed I Will Always Love You for Wagoner following their split. It made it to No. First time, in 1974.
